Nissan develops Smaller Inverter for Hybrid and Electric Cars

Nissan Parts Center is pleased to inform that leading Japanese automaker Nissan has introduced a new electrical inverter for battery-powered cars. The inverters, in these battery-powered cars, will convert the direct current from the propulsion battery to the motor in an electric car or hybrid vehicle. Nissan has designed these new size and weight efficient inverters. A more efficient diode, a component which regulates the current between the battery and the motor is the key behind this efficient dynamics. The smaller size and weight of these new inverters make them fit for smaller hybrid and electric cars. At present, the automakers are finding it challenging to cut weight from hybrid cars to make room for the large batteries needed to make them more practical. Thus, Nissan has made a breakthrough in this respect. With these new components, the Nissan's hybrid and electric cars can now be made smaller or accommodate larger batteries. Apparently, Nissan is planning to launch a compact hybrid and its first electric car in 2010.
